The inorganic-organic hybrid materials will be used as coating material for conventional mulch papers. Therefore, different pre-treatments, solvent contents, coating thicknesses and application methods will be tested. The hybrid polymers will not only be used as a coating, but also as part of the paper and matrix to connect cellulosic fibres and so manufacture novel types of mulch film.
Various formulations, different fibre contents and fibre/hybrid matrix ratios will be investigated and the related performance (durability and mechanical strength) and degradability will be evaluated and optimized.
To reach the targeted goals, the project partners work hand in hand and to make sure that the results can be transferred into the production process after the end of the project, and an intensive exchange between the partners and countries is achieved. The project work is portioned in various technical activities, which, in addition to the important aspects such as reporting, dissemination and explications represent the center of the project.
